Two is Better than One
Two is Better than One
When I was a college student, I used to listen to a love song titled "Two is Better than One" by Boys Like Girls.
I did not know anything about the band or their album, but I often found myself humming the melody or singing this song over and over in my head. I never really paid attention to the lyrics itself, probably because it was not relatable or applicable to my life at that time.
Few weeks ago, I synced my phone to my car to play music from YouTube. When I was driving, the song "Two is Better than One" randomly played itself. Even after eight years later, I was able to sing along. The nostalgic feeling overswept me, and I put the song on a repeat mode.
I have watched numerous romance movies and listened to love songs, but it never really penetrated my heart as this song did.
I remember what you wore on the first date
You came into my life
And I thought hey
You came into my life
And I thought hey
Maybe it's true, that I can't live without you
Maybe two is better than one
There's so much time, to figure out the rest of my life
And you've already got me coming undone
Maybe two is better than one
There's so much time, to figure out the rest of my life
And you've already got me coming undone
I do not exactly remember the entire attire of my husband on our first date (except the socks he wore, as his pant was rolled up and revealed the unique color of the socks), but he did enter my life from that moment. Even though I was never opposed to the idea that a person can enjoy his or her life without being in a relationship, meeting my husband on that first date made me think that "two is better than one" and to figure out the rest of my life.
"love is when the other person's happiness is more important than your own".

I have friends who enjoy being single and find benefits from being single. Also, being single does not put them at any disadvantage or adds restrictions to any regular activities they perform; so, it is not abnormal for some people to think that staying single is better than being in a relationship, especially if they had emotionally draining relationships in the past or do not have positive memories from the past affiliations.
I personally think that two is better than one (hence, this posting). Happiness, when shared, is doubled; sadness, when shared, is halved. However, to be more accurate, two is better than one only if the other person is your soulmate. This again emphasizes the importance of finding and recognizing your soulmate (fortunately, I have found one already!).
